Switch Accessible Books

Are there switch accessible books provided with the monly units? I know I can dump them into Powerpoint and do it that way, but I was curious if all of them were already made to avoid recreating the wheel! :) I'm working with a teacher who has a level 1 student and we're trying to encourage as much meaningful participation as possible.

Thanks!

Hi Hannah,

Each leveled book and chapter book within Unique Learning System is provided in a speaking format. This format can be accessed by clicking on the "speaker" icon next to the lesson inside the ULS Dashboard.

In addition to these speaking versions, PowerPoint stories are provided for each leveled book within the monthly unit. These PowerPoints can be accessed by clicking on "Supporting Files" in the ULS Dashboard > Monthly Tools.

Go to the URL below for more information on what components of Unique Learning System and other N2Y products are switch-accessible. This guide also gives specifics on commands and keystrokes that can be used with switch devices.

Is there a switch selection option for the monthly checkpoints? I would like my students to be able to scan and select the answers.

Hi Kris,

Government standards require assessments survey content knowledge without testing accessibility. Monthly Checkpoints are designed to be teacher led. Checkpoints should be administered via paper or on a computer with standard mouse and keyboard input. In each case the student should indicate their answer by speaking, pointing, eye gaze or other indicators appropriate for the student. The assessment administrator may then record on paper or click the appropriate response as indicated by the student.

Please refer to the Level 1 Checkpoint Instructions for more information about switch use.

We do recognize the demand for learning activities with various forms of interaction. These are in discussion for future developments.

Best,
n2y support
