iPad

At some point last winter, we were discussing the possibility of an iPad app, or improved compatibility using ULS with iPads. I was just wondering if this was still being considered, and if there was any new information? Our classroom loves ULS and being able to do activities on the iPad is so motivating for my students!
Thanks for any updates anyone has!

Hi Bethany,

N2Y recognizes the technology and support needs of our special learners. And, we are currently in the planning stages of developing our products to be more adaptable with devices such as the iPad, interactive whiteboards, etc.

Although there is no expected date of availability, this is the direction of N2Y products in the future.

Currently, there may be features of the N2Y website which you can access via the iPad. The downloadable materials are not necessarily designed to be implemented with this device, however, there could be creative ways in which to do so.

Some apps others have been using: choiceboardcreator, iAnnotate, and GoTalkNow.

Go to this URL for some app ideas with N2Y products on our Training Site: http://training.n2y.com/?page_id=-234

Best,

Amanda - to followup. We have been trying to use the worksheets on an iPad through the adobe pdf app and annotation - but we are having and issue in that the security level doesn't allow us to annotate. Is that fixable?

HI Elisa,
I just tried opening up a PDF from the holiday unit, specifically a read and answer. I opened it with iAnnotate and it worked just fine. I could use the markers or the on screen keyboard in addition to other tools to respond.

Hope that helps.

It wasn't iAnnotate that I was having problems with, it was the Adobe app, which is free. Do you have any solutions for that? Or should I bite the bullet and gift that app to the student in question?

Thanks

Is it possible to use an iPad to do benchmarking assessments, student profiles, transition profiles, etc? I tried to pull it up on mine and assess a student and in some cases it would not save, in other cases it would not advance. I was unable to successfully use the iPad to access these assessments with my students and had to resort to going back into the classroom and giving the assessments in a very distracting environment.

Hi Rita,

At this time, the benchmarking assessments and profiles within Unique GPS are not designed to be completed on the iPad interface.

This is, however, an integration that is being taken into great consideration for future development.

Please perform these assessments on a computer for the most accurate results.

Thank you,
N2Y Support
